Zane Lowe at Mallorca Rocks

Zane is one of the godfather’s of the ‘Rocks family and newly installed as our music director for 2011 but that doesn’t mean he’ll be hanging up the decks, far from it! He’ll once again be bringing his high energy sets to the Balearics this summer and no doubt it will be one of the highlights once again.

Speaking of his new position, Zane said: “I DJ-ed at the first ever Rocks event and have been a supporter ever since, so it’s great to make it official. It’s exciting, ambitious and totally in tune. The energy is inexplicable and it’s drawn me back year on year.

Playing the opening of Mallorca Rocks last year was one of my best gigs to date and I’m delighted to be asked to be a bigger part of the events and the programming this year. Business as usual then. See you in the summer.”

Joining Zane on stage will be the most talked about guitar band of the past 12 months The Vaccines. This will be their balearic debut and a Rocks exclusive – we reckon this will be the closest you’ll get to them for a very long time as they are set to rule the festival season and beyond. With huge hits ‘If You Wanna’ and ‘Post Break-Up Sex’ dominating the airwaves its going to be a seminal music moment.

And completing the hippest show of the summer, we´ll be flying in one of New York’s most critically acclaimed acts of last year, Darwin Deez’ to top the night off with his Brooklyn cool sounds and indie floor-fillers ‘Radar Detector’ and ‘Constellations’.

The Wombats & Brother at Mallorca Rocks

After a two year break from the Rocks Hotels, Liverpool’s finest indie-pop export of the last decade – The Wombats – are set to head back to the Balearics this summer.

Murph, Dan and Tord will have new album, ‘The Modern Glitch’, in tow plus hits such as ‘Kill The Director’, ‘Moving To New York’ and ‘Backfire At The Disco’ from their debut ‘A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation’ too. The band said: “Last time we played Ibiza Rocks we had an amazing time. At that time, the gig was held by a racetrack. We had a guy dressed up as a wolf on stage and we rode around the race track in a horse and chariot before the gig! Pretty special memories. We can’t wait to play in both islands this year, double the fun! See you there.”

They are joined on the bill by one of 2011′s most hyped new bands – Brother who have been making headlines with their combination of ridiculously catchy hooks and trademark swaggerNME said of the Wombats “They seem to have stumbled upon the perfect formula for the indie-rock disco anthem… full of exhilarating punk-funk.. brilliantly fun. Magaluf: A Great Option for Cheap Family Holidays

Magaluf is renowned as a party destination for young people from Britain and the rest of Europe. Yet if you are looking for an affordable holiday to Spain with your family, you might also want to consider this great resort.

The main reason to come here is the wide variety of deals offered by package holiday companies. You can get a trip, inclusive of your flights and hotels, for far less than other resorts. So for cash-strapped families it is well worth coming here as you can still enjoy the beaches and the Mediterranean temperature at a much lower rate.

What wards many families off is Magaluf’s reputation as a party destination – this is certainly deserved, however, you can avoid all this by booking into the right hotel. If you find somewhere nice and quiet you and your family can relax there and avoid all the partiers. Somewhere like the Marina Torrenova Hotel is perfect as it has large, sprawling facilities and a nice atmosphere that will sit well with your kids.

Once you’ve found yourself a sanctuary, you will find that there are lots of good family friendly activities. You can try go-karting at Karting Competición, or splash around at the Western Water Park. You can also try horseback riding and hiking to get outdoors and catch some of the lovely sun. These pursuits, along with all the delights of the beach, should keep you and your family well entertained during your stay.

So if you are looking for a great, cheap, family friendly destination in the Mediterranean you should consider Magaluf. It is undoubtedly a great place to party – yet you can cut this part out and instead concentrate on the many family oriented facilities available.

Magaluf on the Cheap

Magaluf is understandably one of the most popular destinations in Europe, and every year huge numbers come to this resort during the summer months. This has not abated in these tough financial times as it’s more than possible to travel here on just a few hundred pounds. You can book cheap flights to Spain and do a few other cost-saving measures to ensure your holiday is perfectly affordable.

Flights and hotel stays are always going to be your chief expenses when coming to Magaluf. Luckily the resort’s popularity has forced travel companies to compete over the market, each offering cheaper and cheaper flights in turn. This will allow you to get here for a very reasonable rate – to maximise savings pick up a package which will also include your hotel at a bargain rate. You may not get the most luxurious accommodation, but that shouldn’t prevent you from having a great time.

You can also cut your costs by eating cheaply – food at the local restaurants is quite expensive. This is a pity, especially as some of it is of dubious quality.  If you book self-catering accommodation you can cut out this expense and eat for a quarter of the price – of course you will have to do all the cooking yourself, but it will be well worth it.

Finally, you should consider which clubs you go to. Places like BCM can have quite steep cover charges that will really set you back – and if you want to go out every night it can end up being as expensive as your flights or hotel. So while you may want to go to the big clubs now and again, it’s worth checking out some of the smaller bars as well. Many of them don’t have cover charges, and they are a bit more pleasant than the huge sprawling nightclubs.

By doing these simple things you should have no problem enjoying your time in Magaluf without spending a whole lot of money – that is one of the best things about this resort: it’s possible to have a truly great time without spending all of your savings.

Summer is Starting to Heat up in Magaluf

It has been a frigid winter for many in Europe with wintry winds and snow forcing people to spend their days inside huddled against the cold. Thankfully, Easter is upon us now and the tourist season is beginning again – Brits, Germans and other tourists will begin embarking on holidays to Magaluf with Beatthebrochure and other providers. We can look forward to another great summer.

The best thing about Magaluf is that we can count on the weather being beautiful all summer long. Majorca is always very hot during this period, so no matter when you come you will be able to bask in the wonderful sunshine and get a great tan.

The holiday season is expected to get a big boost due to the unprecedented amount of British bank holidays in April. Brits who have four days off will be flooding to Magaluf to get their summer off to a great start. This should continue throughout the season as cheap airfares to the island are readily available, while competing resorts like Sharm el Sheikh are falling in popularity. Indeed, it looks like it is going to be a great summer in the Balearics.

For people looking to get here it is best to start their exploration online. There are many different companies which offer flights and hotel deals to Magaluf – these packages are a good way to make all your arrangements as you will get large discounts and be able to get everything sorted out in just a few minutes.

As summer dawns, it is time to book your trip. So log on and find the package that works for you, it is promising to be a busy season so make sure you make your arrangements early to avoid disappointment.

Ingredients for a Great Night-Out in Magaluf

People go on cheap holidays in Magaluf to see the sun and head out into its collection of bars and clubs. The nightlife there is an amazing experience and you can have some of the best nights out of your life. But a great evening won’t happen by accident, you need the right ingredients: so here is the recipe to ensure you have an amazing time.

Pool-side relaxation

There’s no better way to start a night-out than with a few relaxing drinks by the pool – this will help you get excited for the coming festivities. The best place for this is your hotel – places like Sotavento Apartments have poolside bars that will help get your night started right. Sipping a gentle drink by the pool as the sun sets is a great way to begin.

Music

Magaluf is thankfully becoming a destination for some of the best bands in the world – in 2010 the Kooks made an appearance at the Mallorca Rocks Hotel, and the stage looks set for more big names to follow. A great concert is an amazing way to start any night, especially if you can track down one of your favourite bands.

Venue

Choosing your venue is the most important part of a great night-out here. You’re probably after something upbeat so consider heading to Red Lion, Chaplins or BCM. These three are all great options, but if you want to have a low-key night its best to stick to hotel bars and quieter pubs.

People

No matter what setting you choose, your night will only be as good as the people who you share it with. So when travelling to Magaluf, make sure you bring some good friends who are into the same type of nightlife as you. By forming a great crew you will have everything you need for an amazing night.
