Quick Magaluf Rundown

Magaluf is without a doubt the party capital of Majorca with a selection of dance clubs and music bars which will suit individual tastes. The town also has a amazing beach with golden sand that is the best on the island and a variety water sports to keep you busy during the day. From para-sailing to the banana boat theres loads to choose from.

BCM is the largest dance club in Magaluf and has three floors, this is a popular club which regularly attracts some of the top DJs. The lower level, known as the BCM Millennium, is the site of enormous pop corn and foam parties, be ready to get wet and sticky on that level. ;) The upper level is known for its amazing laser and light shows and of course the best dancers. The middle level usually attracts the older holiday makers that aren’t as much into the partying as the young ones. As well as BCM there are other clubs in Magaluf which include the Boomerang, Bananas, Tokio Joes.

There are two Water Parks in Magaluf within a short distance of the town, the oldest of which is Aqualand Magaluf, with some exciting water flumes and chutes like the Kamikaze, the Tornado and the Black Hole. Across from there you will find the Western Water Park with Wild West themed attractions like the Wild River, the Big Hole and the Tornado. The main attraction of the Western Water Park has to be the 850 foot long Mega Slide.
All in all Magaluf is one of thee places for your summer holiday if your looking for loads of fun, mischief and some of the best memory’s that you’ll ever have.

Let me know what you think of Magaluf, leave your comments below.  :D

Paddys Pub [Review]

Rating: ★★★★☆

Paddy’s Pub, a little Gem!

Small Irish themed pub, less hectic than others on the strip, but a great bar for cheesy music, a good laugh, cheap drinks and if you visit Paddy’s I can guarentee some of your best stories of Magaluf will involve Paddy’s being mentioned.

The shot Girls are walking around selling Vodka Shots at a cheap price which is always a good way to get the night on to a flyer.

Nice bar for not being too hot, which I keep mentioning but believe me, I’ve thought about wearing a wet suit many a time. You won’t have that problem in Paddy’s. Good seating area opposite the bar with tables for groups looking to play a few drinking games and enjoy some banter.

Paddy’s pub us located on the left hand side of the strip as you walk down hill, further down, opposite the road that turns right towards the infamous Sling-Shot.

Paddy’s – Under rated – Under estimated.

Lennons Bar [Review]

Rating: ★★★★½

One of the bigger bars in Magaluf, if not the biggest! (half way down, left hand side if walking down hill) Lennons for me was always a middle bar, a fantastic warm up before hitting a club.

Another bar that seems to be divided in two… Yet again by the lively side (where the decent sized dance floor is) and the quieter side (Where the popular, when drunk, punch machine is).

With a really decent sized bar and reasonable priced drinks, Lennons is always another must visit for me.

DJ Box is at a very good spot next to the entrance to take requests for any tunes you want to hear.

For me, and reading this you won’t realise what importance this is, unless you’ve been to Magaluf in peak season, the entrance is very close to the dance floor which is a huge bonus. As you can imagine the bars do get very hot inside, but Lennons always seems to be a little cooler due to the entrance being in a good spot and the cool air drifting in. This makes it’s a lot more comfortable than other bars along the strip.

Visit it yourself, you’ll not regret it!

Chaplins Bar [Review]

Rating: ★★★★½

Well, where do I start? I don’t.. For me this was a place to finish your night. In 2009, we finished in Chaplins every single night of our 10 night holiday, it was always jumping, great atmosphere, DJ playing fantastic tunes & getting involved/creating banter by writing funny messages about people on the T.V’s around the place. The Bar Staff were always up for a laugh too, whilst serving their reasonable priced drinks.

Based half way down the strip (Right hand side if walking down hill) As you enter Chaplins, you walk/crawl straight on to the dancefloor which is a fairly decent size for the size of Chaplins itself, which is by no means small I must add. There is 2 levels inside, divided by 2 or 3 steps. There are 2 bars inside, one on the upper level next to the dance floor which is the more lively side, and another bar on the lower level, which seems to me a little quieter, where you’ll often seen people sat on stools next to the bar when they are danced out or have drunk too much. There is also a seating area outside if you wanted to play drinking games in the cooler air, watching the strip go by.

Chaplins is a must visit when going to Magaluf, for many years this has been a popular choice by most. Believe me when I say you’ll go back time and time again.

The people’s band, that’s what they call ‘em – The Courteeners have climbed to the top of the British music scene and it’s down to just three things: great tunes, hard work and the unwavering love of the Great British public.

Their second album ‘Falcon’ went Top Ten and they’ve been selling out massive shows at a fearsome rate all year. Firm Ibiza Rocks favourites right from the off, we’re proud to welcome the all conquering heroes back for a gig that’s set to be about as seminal and as classic as they come.

The Kooks, Bombay Bicycle Club & Zane Lowe

6 Jun 2010 – Mallorca Rocks Hotel, Magaluf

The Brighton lads have been Ibiza Rocks faves right from the get-go – their 2006 debut ‘Inside In/Inside Out’ catapulted them to the forefront of the UK scene with its trademark flawless indie pop, shifting a massive 2 million plus copies worldwide.

Since then they’ve rung up sell-out shows in the UK, America and all over the world, even earning a support slot with the legendary Rolling Stones. Their second album Konk took the band’s sound to new heights in 2008 and right now the world’s pretty much theirs for the taking, so where else would you expect to find them but Ibiza Rocks?

They’ll be joined on the night by London’s Bombay Bicycle Club (Best New Band winners at the NME Award 2010) whose album ‘I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Loose’ is a hugh Ibiza Rocks favourite.

Lush Bar [Review]

Rating: ★★★★★

I admit it, I’m getting on a bit, and so are my mates.

Phones, you see, to us are for ringing each other. We don’t have full blown conversations over text and we’ve not a clue what Raspberry Messenger is. If we do send a text, it’s consists of “Pub at 8?”, and the reply is usually “Aye go on then”. Every so often, we’ll send a random, one word insult.

Which is why, when you’re on your jollies with 11 of your closest friends, you need a local. Just like you have at home. Somewhere to meet your mates and have a couple of sharpeners whilst you’re waiting for the vain ones, somewhere to take in the totty, and somewhere you’ll be greated like an old mate when you walk in, where they’ll start pouring your favoured tipple before you even utter a word.

Somewhere the female bar staff will get their boobies out for you. Sorry did I say that aloud? Last time I looked, that never happened in the Stag, back in Wigan, but it sure as hell happened last time I was in Lush Bar!

You see, we’d been going in all week, doing exactly as I said above, meeting there before progressing down the strip. The owner, who’s name I can’t recall sadly, (but who recognised us from the year before, and several years prior) realised that it was our last night, and got all the barmaids to give us a flash of their breasts. Good man.

Lush is one of the few bars that opens for longer than just the traditional peak season, though I understand it’s not open all year round. It was a colleague’s 40th birthday a few years ago and he managed to get – I’m not kidding – FIFTY people over there for a weekend in early March. Lush was open then – the shot sellers were notable by their absence, but they put the Super League on for us. So, some brownie points there, then.

Speaking of Super League and shot sellers – in 2008, my mate and I were trying to remember the words to a Wigan Warriors chant, so I texted another mate, who was at home, for a reminder. He duly complied but asked for, in return, a picture of “you and Joe biting a fat bird’s arse”. In the same breath, Lauren, the principle shot seller that year came by – I have to say, she was in no way shape or form fat, but we asked her to pose for the picture anyway. Up went the skirt, and Joe and I sank our teeth in!

And that’s the beauty of Lush – the staff are like your mates for the week. The bar itself only looks tiny when you walk in, but go towards the back, down the steps, there is another big bar area, so there’s plenty room.

Our favourite bit, though was the external terrace, which makes the place ideal any time of day or night. During the day, it’s a nice, relaxed place to be; warm but in the shade. At night, it’s a fabulous TVP.

TVP? Sorry – that stands for ‘Totty Vantage Point.” Given Lush’s position on near the top of the strip, and close to hotels and other bars, you could be forgiven for wondering why the hell Magaluf has a lap dancing bar. If you want to see beautiful people – just sit in Lush for an hour or two.

Another selling point is that the drinks are not badly priced. Depending on who served me, I paid between 2 and 2.5 euro on a pint of the local lager, which is as good as, if not better, than the pisswater we get at home. A vodka and mixer is about the same price, I’m reliably informed. Either way, much cheaper than further down the strip.

The downside is that it’s very much a moderate ‘bar’. It’s no Chaplins’ or Revolution, for instance. It’s very much somewhere to start or end your night, or have a drink during the day. But that’s its’ charm. It’s not big or banging, it’s just a good, friendly bar, with friendly people who possess a sense of fun and a sense of humour, without being dickheads.

And I’m sure, people of all ages, not just us thirtysomethings, appreciate that.
